Il Maestro has arrived!
februari 7, 2011
He will be conducting the Brussels Radio Philharmonic this week: Maestro Guerrero, originally from Costa Rica, is well known for his love of contemporary music throughout the world.
Having only just arrived at Brussels, he has to deal with a tight schedule at once. Monday morning, 10am: A meeting with composer Wim Henderickx & soloist Gert François to read the scores of ‘Grove!’ together, followed by 5 hours rehearsal with the full orchestra at 2pm. At 7, the journalists are waiting for him outside. Giancarlo welcomes them with a warm smile, enthousiastically.
The countdown is running: A tough programme, 86 musicians, 5 soloists, 4 highly diverse pieces of music, and only 3 days to go until the grand premiere in Bruges…
Besides, Guerrero is opening the European part of a remarkable guest conducting tour that will have him working with six different orchestras on five continents this season. Read more!
